BACKGROUNDIn 2003, the Air Force Air Education Training Command began developing requirements for a training system to replace Northrop Grumman’s T-38.

The competition to replace the advanced jet trainer fleet is known as T-X.
Raytheon, one of the world’s preeminent training and avionics companies, is offering the T-100 for the competition.
The T-100 is designed to prepare pilots for the F-22, F-35 and Long Range Strike Bomber.
Serving as the prime contractor, Raytheon is working with principal partners Leonardo-Finmeccanica, CAE USA and Honeywell Aerospace on this integrated, 5th-generation training solution.
